The Electrical Apprentice Training Alliance (The Alliance) has been in existence for 50 years. It is under the direction of the Greater Toronto Electrical Contractors Association (Greater Toronto ECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 353 (IBEW LU 353)
The Alliance is comprised of an equal number of representatives from the Greater Toronto ECA and the IBEW LU 353, which creates a governing body called the Council. The Council sets the Policies, Procedures and Expectations for which the Alliance operates as well as takes direction regarding the Apprenticeship Program. The Council meets on a regular basis to discuss content and direction for the Program. The Council also works to address any changes imposed by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) and the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT).
The Alliance recruits, selects and educates 309A Construction and Maintenance electrical apprentices and Network Cable Specialists (NCS) across the Greater Toronto Area. Its territory runs from Lake Ontario to Parry Sound and from Trenton to Oakville, so apprentices in that region have a clear place to train.
The Program we offer has been developed to guide and support apprentices from application through to passing their Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) for Journeyperson status. As this apprenticeship is hours-based, completion time differs from one person to the next. Generally speaking, the average time to complete the program is approximately 6 years.
The intake process is based on labor demand, and the Alliance is informed of this demand by the Local Joint Conference Board (LJCB). The LJCB determines how many workers are required, and in turn, the Alliance selects applicants based on those numbers.

Welcome to the Local IBEW 115. Serving 570 members in the Quinte St. Lawrence region (Trenton-Quebec border).
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is an organization made up of nearly one million men and women just like you – engaged in every type of employment. Their needs and goals are the same as yours; however, they have the personal strength and human dignity that come from belonging to a world-respected labor organization that helps its members live better, freer and fuller lives.
We will spend a good portion of our adult life working and, other than our health and family, and our job should probably be the most important concern we have.
We have the right to a degree of job satisfaction in our career and a right to a decent wage and working conditions.
Without those protections, or if you want to keep the wages and conditions you currently enjoy, consider your options.
In May of 2016, IBEW Local 115 will celebrate 90 years of involvement in the labor community. We have built our union on our commitment to organize and represent workers; our membership and longevity are proof of that commitment.
The IBEW represents workers in many different industries such as Manufacturing, Telecommunications, Voice Data Video, Utilities, Construction, Maintenance, Motor Shops, Sign Shops, CATV, Radio and Television, Sound and Alarm systems, Railroads, Shipyards, Pulp and Paper Mills, Mining, Tree Trimming, Health Care and Government employees.
Choosing to join the IBEW means you have a strong advocate for your workplace rights. Our union has extensive resources and expert staff who represent you in negotiations, keep safety standards in view, handle grievances, navigate arbitrations, secure workers’ compensation and support labor legislation that affects you.
