For almost a century, IBEW Local 400 has supplied Monmouth & Ocean Counties in New Jersey with trained electricians. The local focuses on safety, skill-building and craftsmanship so projects stay on time and on budget. Under JATC guidance, members complete a five-year apprenticeship and ongoing education that tracks changes in electrical construction.

There are six industry areas where you will find the members of IBEW Local 400.

  • Inside Wireman: electrical workers who install the power, lighting, controls, security control systems and other electrical equipment in commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Outside Linemen: the electrical workers who install the distribution and transmission lines that move power from a power plant to a factory, a business or your home.
  • Residential Wiremen: electrical workers who specialize in installing all of the electrical systems in single-family and multi-family houses or dwellings.
  • Photovoltaic (Solar) Installers: from residential homes to some of New Jersey’s largest solar fields, these are the electrical workers who install, wire and maintain these systems.
  • VDV Installer Technicians: electrical workers who install equipment for telephones, computer networks, video distribution systems and other low voltage systems.
  • Sign Wiremen and Fabricators: electrical workers who fabricate and install electric signs such as neon, matrix and other electrical-based signage.

Since May 1, 1994, the members of IBEW Local 351 have served the communities of Southern New Jersey by providing a highly-skilled workforce. This workforce consists of Inside Wiremen, Linemen, Telecommunications workers, Construction Wiremen/Electricians, Lighting Rod Installers and Line Clearance Tree Trimmers.

We take pride in every one of our members, and it is our goal to ensure every job is on time and on budget. Our over 2000 members proudly service Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem and a majority of Burlington Counties. We also serve a portion of Ocean County (Line Division).

Our 20,000 square foot training facility supports an intensive five-year apprenticeship program that builds practical skill and precision. The program is designed so apprentices finish work that meets client quality standards.

Apprentices use this facility, and it also hosts Construction Wireman/Electrician training, continuing education and safety programs. Keeping pace with technology matters in our education because electrical work changes across a career.

Local 164 includes more than 2,000 electricians, active in Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties on residential, commercial and industrial projects, and more than 700 telecommunications workers contracted throughout the state. Members of Local 164 handle installations, repairs and maintenance on major New Jersey electrical and telecom projects.

These have included the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln and Holland tunnels, Meadowlands Sports Complex, mega-shopping centers such as Garden State Plaza and Newport Mall, leading entertainment venues like The Prudential Center, Red Bull Stadium, Newark Bears Stadium and prominent office buildings along New Jersey’s Gold Coast.

As an organization, Local 164 embraces the adage of skill, attitude and knowledge. Each member also is strongly encouraged to give back to the community through his or her trade. Local 164 has overcome the tests of the last century and will be at the vanguard of the next due to the high standards associated with being a Local 164 member.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 456 was chartered on January 25, 1915. Since January 1, 2000, Local 456 jurisdiction was expanded to include all of Middlesex County and a part of Somerset County under the Inside Wireman agreement and the Outside Commercial Agreement. 

Local 456 also has jurisdiction of outside utility contractors performing work on the property of Public Service Electric & Gas of New Jersey, Jersey Central Power & Light (GPU), Orange and Rockland Utilities in New Jersey, and Railroads. Jurisdiction of substation work in New Jersey is under the inside local’s commercial agreements.

In partnership with the Northern New Jersey chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association and the Northeast Line Contractors, Local 456 supplies a trained workforce. Contractors who call Local 456 for manpower expect the job to be done right, safe and on time.

With the direction of our Joint Apprenticeship and Training department, our members are ready to meet all the needs of the customer. We continuously offer training to our journeymen and journeywomen to stay ahead of the demands of the electrical construction trade.

We also have an intense five-year apprenticeship program that, through up-to-date training, produces skilled electricians, communication workers and linemen.

Since January 17, 1900, the members of IBEW Local 102 have served the communities of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We take pride in providing a skilled workforce of electricians. Our goal is to keep every job on time and on budget.

Our five-year apprenticeship, with mandatory OSHA 30 safety training, prepares electricians for skilled field work. The program builds craftsmanship and safety habits so members can deliver solid service on each project.

All of our training is housed in our 16,000 square foot training facility. Apprentices train there, and the building also hosts our continuing education program. Keeping pace with technology is part of the education process as the industry changes.

Since September 12, 1912, the members of I.B.E.W. Local 269 have provided the skilled Electrical Workforce to Central New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Our highly skilled workforce ensures that you receive the highest quality craftsmanship with on-time and on-budget projects. Our 5-year apprenticeship training program also ensures that the next generation of Electrical Workers will be as highly skilled and qualified as the last generation.

There are four specialty areas where you will find the members of I.B.E.W. Local 269. These five areas are best described by the type of work done in each of those areas.
